Not a large Mosquito, but a Crane Fly. (Diptera) The internet tells me that the 'handle bars' behind the wings are known as halteres. Halteres function as balancing gyroscopes, or so they say. I think they are for fairies to hold on to ....
So delicate, and those are certainly perfect fairy wings - I would have mistaken it for a mosquito.
