Fancy footwork.
These 'Vygies' grow next to my front porch steps.
Armed with my camera, I sat on the steps in the sun for a while today and was privileged to witness this drama!
No sooner had the bee (?) landed when the Crab Spider appeared from where it was hiding.
The little spider did not quite know which end to tackle first. As the bee circled at quite a speed in the brand new
flower to help itself to the fresh pollen, the spider was dancing about wildly. It somehow reminded me of the fancy footwork in a boxing match.   The spider lost this round and the lucky bee escaped with a heavy load.
(The previous 2 day's photos were taken at this same spot. The Vygies can be seen in the background of both photos.)

  2. What an amazing drama to witness Maggie. I think that with our lives being so busy most of the time we miss these amazing demonstrations of how the little creatures on our planet have quite stressful lives!!! Great shot.

  4. Great shot of this drama as it unfolded...so glad the bee won, I have quite a thing for bees, they are so so important for the plant world, they say if they all died out within 4 years we would do too...Love this so much! Maggie hope you are feeling much better today. xx

  5. This is the type of thing I love ... the things that happen right under our noses, un-noticed by most people.
Thanks for sharing with us :)
