Hungry Mouse Bird
This is the first time that I have seen these birds feed on flowers.
The feathers look like fluff - perhaps that is another reason why it is called a
'Mouse Bird' - not just because of the long tail?
The photo that I posted on 22 July shows the bird in de'tail' |
I am sure I have also seen these mousebirds eating flowers - so like a mouse they are!
ReplyDeleteMaggie last weekend we were in the berg and I watched them and some white-eyes eating small white flowers. This is a lovely shot.
ReplyDeleteVery interesting that they eat flowers, Maggie. Must assist in the pollination and / or dispersing of the seeds.
ReplyDeleteI heard that these birds are also named mouse birds because they behave and look like mice crawling along the branches, so its a combo of that and the tail....
