We took a quick drive to False Bay Park (part of the Isimangaliso Wetlands)
It is so pleasing to see the abundant bird life after the lake had been dry for so many years. I did a major hunt in my photo archive and bring you a story where no words are necessary!
The photo above shows how windy it was and the birds congregated around the other side
of the bay that was sheltered from the wind
A variety of Cormorant, Pelican, Seagull, Flamingo, Sandpiper, Egret, Heron, Thick Knee, Tern and many other smaller birds within a few hundred meters!
We are all very thankful that the lake has filled up again and is back to its former glory.
My mother who will be 87 in January spent many happy hours fishing at the lake 'back in the day'
When the lake dried up she used to say that she wonders if she will ever see the lake full again.
I am especially thankful that Mom can witness the beauty once more.
Hopefully we will soon have a less windy day so that I can take her fishing again.
