On days like these I wish I had a  book on the butterflies of South Africa. 
This beauty was feeding on decayed fruit - I have never seen one like it.
My friend Jill would be able to identify it...  just watch the comments.......

    Maggie it is a Green-veined Emperor. You must be so proud of this shot. Well done!!!!! There was a Pearl Emperor in my garden this morning but he moved out before I could photograph him.

    Magnificent Maggie!! I love the green contrast on the brown of the butterfly, so wonderful to capture this in your garden..wonderful shot!!
