Have you ever wondered why those bees and  little butterflies are flitting about on the lawn?
Wonder no more....  they are nectaring on the flowers.

Amazing hairstyle!   These little caterpillars are only between 12 and 15mm in length and look like little moving mops because they do not lift their heads very often.

Ready... Steady... JUMP!  Making a quick getaway, but not quite quick enough.

This photo was taken in January. It was too windy today and all my photos were out of focus.
A pity really, because quite a variety of butterflies visited the yellow Lantana today.

Wish I could wipe that smile of his back!  This 'happy' bug gave me a very hard time ....
It finally decided to make itself visible on the blog

This sighting made me wonder whether insects are also subjected to diseases like Albinism.  Although the black version of this little bee is very common,  I have never seen a light golden one with blonde hair. This little chap is about three times smaller than a honey bee.

Thank you Lord,  for sending us rain after the scorching weather we had over the last weeks.
We had 27mm of rain last night - the water tank is full and I am 'tankfull' that I did not swallow my teeth during the loudest thunderclap that I have ever experienced!

These insects have a 'fold away' appendage that is used like a straw.
I have seen a similar, much smaller one feed on an insect.

Such a sad face!  Probably asking "Will somebody please turn up the rim of my hat???"
Only about 5mm in diameter, with just the ends of the antennae protruding
from under the big 'hat' when viewed from above.

A wake-up call to remind us that the visit has come to an end.

Happy 40th birthday Blackie.  It was wonderful to spend such a special occasion with you and your lovely family.
(This photo is of the heart of a Water Lily. Both Grannies and Great Granny each received a flower from Anagret)

Swimming and playing games in the farm dam.
One wonders who had more fun - the children, the dogs or the photographer?

Rather cumbersome in flight, this guy had to land often to rest.

Last year a pair of Kingfishers nested in the bank below my house. I was thrilled to
see them here again today!

This Fruitfly spent ages cleaning its feet  & gave me the opportunity to get real close.

Resting in a shrub ... the wind was blowing this little butterfly all over the place! It must be like swimming against the current - tiring!

A rather agressive character - ready to pounce! Perhaps it saw it's own reflection in the lens
