These insects have a 'fold away' appendage that is used like a straw.
I have seen a similar, much smaller one feed on an insect.

Wow, this is such a fascinating creature! In the other pic where a smaller one has hold of another insect, it reminded me of the red roman spiders. Here I see the huge straw-like "talon" of a mouth-piece
