Another visit to Hluhluuwe Imfolozi Park

The view @maggieztree was quite magical at sunrise!
The grass in the Park is tall and dry - reminding us that the fire season is upon us

This lonely old Buffalo had was slurping loudly from the shallow puddles on the road.

On the way to Maphumulo picnic spot we met another thirsty animal :)

Once the Elephant had finished drinking, she turned around and I managed to get a shot that has always eluded me - the right light to capture the colour of eye.
A cloud of little flies hover around most wild animals and if  you look closely
you will see the little white specks in the photo

We visited the lookout  where we saw the Crocodiles feeding on the Nyala last month
The water has receded dramatically and there were no sign of any Crocs.

A Shrike of some sorts but I cannot find which one.
Perhaps a juvenile?

 Angry Bird!

The Drongo is enjoying every ray of sunshine

This post is all about bragging with the capabilities of my Canon SX50
See that little white spot in the grass?

I kept the camera resting in the same position where I had it on the car window for the top photo.
The result below proves how powerful the super-zoom is!
The SX50 was my 'birthday present to myself' last year in January after I sold my SX40.
Google tells me that the SX60 is available but I have decided to rather wait
another year and grab the next model when the time comes.
I can't see myself with an SLR and prefer to rather stick to a bridge camera.
It is easy for me to handle especially in the car.

For a moment I was not sure what this was. It dropped from the fence right in front of me.
I ran for the camera and was fortunate to capture this Gecko shedding its skin.
(or is it a type of Lizard?)
