While sitting at the lookout point over Zincakeni Dam in the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park I spotted these old trees doing the Happy Dance down in the valley - probably because 2013 is finally over!  

It was a tough year for some and as you can see Lady Tree even lost her head in the process!

May 2014 be an exceptionally good one - filled with pleasant surprises and many reasons to do the Happy Dance!

Thank you for your visits throughout 2013 and I look forward to seeing you here often in the year ahead. 

In the new year I am not going to feel pressured to go hunting for a photo every day - it feels too much like work ;)  but I will continue to post photos of  'Wild and Wonderful Thingz'  as and when it happens cross my path

Pat's Cat

This beautiful cat arrived at the boarding school's gate one morning.

Being a cat lover, my friend Pat decided to call it 'Dumper' because we were all under the impression that it had been dumped here by people that had moved and wanted to make sure that it would be fed.

(In our home language a boarding school is called a 'koshuis'  which means 'food house')

Needless to say Dumper literally landed with its butt in the butter - a very happy cat!

Dumper is loved by all and loves everybody in return - a very thankful cat indeed!

A few months ago someone arrived to do window repairs and said it was his cat but  that his dogs kept chasing it. Clever kitty  to move out and find its way to a new and loving 'food house'!

Thrilled to find this insect hanging on a leaf, I knelt down and very carefully moved the camera in on it.

It did not move, so I went it even closer

 Then I decided to carefully turn the leaf over to maybe get a better shot of it.

Much to my surprise there was no Cicada - just an empty exoskeleton!
